Beach life - five fairy tales

30/03/2012 18:17

... There was a time long ago at a secluded beach ...

Like this our stories begin, they did mostly end with Old Monk. The guaranteed 100% chemically produced rum from Goa cost only 125 Indian Rupees per bottle which is an equivalent of 2.70 USD. It is a really good deal, also because this rum thing tastes actually quite good.

Because of this good deal, the rum is also not too good to turn around the water pipe in a Rum-pipe. A delicacy, I can assure you! :)

Now to the stories:

The Dalton Brothers

It is dusty on the beach at Agonda. A dried bush roles past my bare feet. The sunbathers in there colorful beach chairs holding their breath as the five brothers marches in a line from there car fortress to the Rama Resort.

Our goal is clear, there he is in the sand, large and brown, his limbs stretched. We come into range and then everything goes quick. The team is briefed clearly, everything was thought out and played by tens of times in the head. We heave the five-meter tree stump onto our shoulders, turn around and march towards our car castle.

So we trudge off with this huge tree stump on the shoulders, around us we spot perplex and questioning faces with a impression like: "? What the hell is wrong with these guys??"

The previous owners react quickly, they whistle and call, but we do not care, after all, we need firewood for our Christmas fire.

Unfortunately, the Rama Indians have finally stopped us at our fireplace: The blonde Lucky Luke imitation overwhelmed us with her endless talking until we were that bored that we gave her the tree back.

(Correction: Exactly, that's not a classic Lucky Luke story ... since we were five brothers (and later even more)... but clumsy enough was our tree-project :)

Back in 1928

The old american car just turns around the corner and in this very moment  my jaw slam onto the floor. I freeze while washing the dishes and can only lift my hand to wave after a dead time of 10 seconds.

The car turns sharply and comes straight towards me. There I meet Herman and Candelaria plus four children the first time, all of them wear an unforgettable smile.

A true fairy tale this family from Argentina. Already since 12 years on the road with there American Graham-Paige car built in 1928, all children were "created" along the way and thus have different nationalities.

Spark Your Dream is their motto, the book is recommended and more you can learn here: www.sparkyourdream.net

I am learning a lot of this unforgettable family, especially a memorable phrase was: "You have only one ticket," In other words, you only have one life. Use it, live your dream, or just light up your dream and fulfill it. You only have one ticket in your life.

Christmas

The Overlander community is growing day by day ... More and more cars find their way to Agonda to join the Christmas-, New Year- and the occasional a birthday celebration.

At Christmas we put on a huge buffet on the beach, then light a huge fire despite the unsuccessful tree project. The fest goes until the wee hours, lots of Old Monk flows into our stomach and the lungs. (Old-Monk-melon hookah-special)

The Christmas tree was created out of palm leaves and decorated by the children. A brilliant festival on the beach under palm trees ... only my family and the obligatory Christmas party in my hometown was missing.

The construction

What should you do if you are creative, you have four children, dozens of active neighbors and a small car, too small to live in it?

Right, you claw all the neighbors, provides timber and off you go with the construction of your new home. Matthias and I also actively helped with the Argentine family to create a temporary Beach-Hut.

In the course of the week, the crate was then made cow proofe and I've heard a Picasso is also hanging on the wall. :)

Visit on visit

The spontaneous visitors

We had many visitors during the seven weeks at the beach. Aside from the constant flow of sometimes more and sometimes less annoying beach-walkers (sorry I'm just not  accessible in the early morning before 10 clock) there was very remarkable peoples visiting us at the campground. Thank you to all...

The un-spontaneous visitors

There would be the first: our Russian friends that we all have learned to know in September in Moscow. Elena and Anya were our hosts in Moscow and the girls spent a week at our beach. We had great fun with the two big city girls even though the two initially had some troubles with our laziness :) Thank you sincerely for your visit.

Irina also comes from the Moscow-Connection and spent mainly time with Philip.

The two extremely smart blondes of Denmark have changed there ski-holiday for a week at the beach. Even with two mathematicians, we spent a great week where we did mainly nothing, Silent Noise and New Year celebrations.

Last but not least, there was Matthias, my former housemate, my former colleague and my former classmates and one of my best friends. Three weeks  he stopped in Agonda and it was a memorable time. Baci; thank you for visiting us and the super cool treats that you've brought. (Dried meat / cheese / sausage / reef-classic and much chocolate)
